Jones College Counseling
Jones College Counseling understands that each student is unique, therefore our approach with each one is individualized and customized to their needs. With our experience and wisdom, we’ll guide students (and their families) through the entire pre-college experience: searching for the right schools socially and academically (looking further than the big, brand-name schools), monitoring deadlines, strategizing with standardized tests, completing applications, applying for financial aid and searching for scholarships. We work hard to minimize the stress from this early adulthood transition, allowing students and their families to feel more prepared and confident throughout this adventure.
Martha Jones
Several years ago, at the urging of a close friend and her children, Martha embarked on becoming a certified college advisor through UC Berkeley. In 2019, Martha earned the designation of Certified Educational Planner, the highest level of competency awarded in the profession. She is also one of less than 300 educational consultants worldwide who have earned this distinction. Today, with 10+ years of college counseling experience, Martha owns Jones College Counseling and advises students and their families through their college search, application and selection journey. She thoroughly enjoys opening a world of possibilities to teenagers, learning their likes and dislikes, and hearing their hopes and dreams for the future.
Prior to becoming a college counselor, Martha discovered her love of working with students when she was the marketing director for a local test preparation company. Students who called seeking advice on which tests best fit their needs found a compassionate and expert counselor. After receiving her certificate in college admissions and career planning, Martha was fortunate to work in the public-school system, counseling Santa Rosa students in the process of applying to college.
In her free-time, you’ll find Martha trying to beat her son on the Peleton Leaderboard, playing Pickle ball, cooking and walking her mom’s dog, Olive under starry nights. Martha also visits colleges as much as possible! She loves to jog around the campuses (husband in tow) to get an initial feel for the college town.
